Who is Carbeau?
The Carbeau team brings together electrochemists, process engineers, polymer experts, and industry professionals who translate the technical solutions into real-world applications for customers and markets. With deep expertise spanning both R&D and scale-up, and a strong commercial interface, we ensure our innovations are effectively brought to market. As an electrochemical CO2 conversion start-up, we use renewable electricity to transform CO2 into chemical building blocks and sustainable polymers, enabling the transition to CO2‑based chemicals and materials.
What is the technology behind Carbeau?
Which CO2 feedstock can Carbeau use?
Carbeau can use multiple CO2 sources, including industrial point sources (e.g. flue gases) as well as biogenic CO2 and direct air capture (DAC). In practice, it is feedstock‑agnostic as long as CO2 purity requirements are met, making it flexible across industrial and future carbon‑capture supply chains.
What is PLGA and why does it matter?
PLGA is a renewable polymer that combines excellent mechanical strength, thermal characteristics and barrier performance. These properties make it particularly well suited for packaging applications that protect sensitive products such as food, feed and pharmaceuticals. Carbeau’s PLGA is produced from renewable carbon sources, including CO₂ and biomass, resulting in a significantly lower carbon footprint than conventional fossil-based alternatives. Depending on the application and end-of-life design, PLGA packaging can be recycled or safely biodegrade in natural environments. In both cases, the carbon remains part of a circular system without generating persistent microplastics.
What is Glycolic Acid and why does it matter?
Glycolic Acid is a specialty ingredient widely used in skin and hair care products for its exfoliating and skin-renewing properties. It is a key compound in a broad range of premium cosmetic formulations. Carbeau’s Glycolic Acid is produced from renewable carbon sources, including CO₂ and biomass, resulting in a substantially reduced carbon footprint compared with conventional fossil-based production routes. In addition, Carbeau’s proprietary process delivers exceptionally high-purity Glycolic Acid, free from impurities such as formaldehyde, chloroacetic acid and methoxyacetic acid. This combination of sustainability and purity makes it an attractive ingredient for next-generation personal care products.
